Winter Sports 2013

We have lots of changes to the Winter Sports programme this year, particularly with skiing. Our Yr7/8 students will ski on Wednesdays and the Yr4,5,6 students will ski on Fridays. We are working on fitting our golf and indoor sports programmes to match and will confirm choices once we have finalised details.

Swimming trials

                                 Swimming Trials for C.O. Champs

Aqualand Wed 20th Feb – 9.30am – 12.00pm

Hi all,

Your child would like to enter the school swimming trials for the CO champs. The CO champs are being held in Cromwell on the 6th^th March. Please place a tick beside the event your child would like to enter and return to school ASAP. Central Otago entries are limited to 2 per event per school so we will go on fastest times for our entries.

The cost for entry to Aqualand is $2.00 per child unless they have a card. No baggy shorts for boys and a swim cap for girls if they have long hair.

We would appreciate some helpers to run the trials so please indicate on the form below if you can and return to school ASAP.

Rippa Rugby Term 1 2013

Wednesdays Start 20^th Feb - Finish 27^th March

Hi all,

The ORFU are running a rippa rugby competition on Wednesday afternoons from 4pm-6pm at the Events Centre starting on 20^th Feb.

We hope to be able to enter some teams to represent Arrowtown school.

The grades are yr 0-2, yr3/4, yr 5/6 and yr7/8.

The teams are mixed and the entry is free.

Touch

                                              Touch Rugby Term 1- 2013

Hi all,

Touch Southland are again running a module for interested players at the Events Centre this term starting on Monday 18th Feb It runs for 7 consecutive weeks. It will be again held on Monday afternoons from 4.15pm-6.00pm. We had a large number of teams last in year’s competition, and the kids really enjoyed it and showed a big improvement in skills and in playing the game. It would be great if we could capitalise on that and have a large number playing again. The teams are mixed with grades being yr 0-2 , Yr3/4 Yr5/6 and yr 7/8. It is for all children years 0 to year 8.

If you are willing to help with a team please indicate on the form below. It would be great if we could get two helpers per team to share the load!

Camp Columba  - Pukerau 11t^h-15th Feb 2013

Hi all,

Camp is next week!

The children are getting very excited and no doubt the parents are too.

It is a great camp and is going to be a great start to the year.

Unfortunately the weather forecast looks not too flash so make sure your jacket is a waterproof one as we will be doing the activities regardless of the weather.

A big thanks Claire Gourlay who has been working on the food preparation.

We will definitely be well fed!

• Please check your gear lists, name clothes and pack all required.
• Camp fees need to be paid before children go on camp. ($180.00 see invoice)
• Chocolate money needs to be handed in ASAP ( if can’t sell all bring it in and we can give to other students to sell)
• We will meet at school on Monday at 8.45am, pack the bus and cars, make sure we are all here, and leave at 9.15am.
• Remember a packed lunch and drink bottle on Monday.
• We will be back at school at approx 4pm on Friday so you need to organise transport home. Kids can use the school phone if they need to.
• Remember to pack togs and towel for swim at Gore Pool on the way home.
• Bring a container of home baking on Monday.
• Bring a good book or inside board games in case weather packs in.
• 2 tea towels, pillow and pillowcases named.
• Extra blanket with sleeping bag in case of Jack Frost
• Any medications labelled and given to Mrs Sefo or Mrs Liddy
• Any digital cameras labelled and given to teachers to look after.
• Pack all you need for camp concert

Make sure you get some good sleep over the weekend – you’ll need it!
