Term 2 Sports Update

Hi all,

Just a quick sporting update as our mild winter continues!

School Skiing

All kids participating in school skiing should have their seasons pass by now. The scheduled “rentals” day, when kids that are renting can get their measurements loaded onto their cards, was to be this Friday but has been postponed until we get some snow and the mountain opens.

Forms need to be returned ASAP as we are starting to sort kids into groups. All information that has gone home is also posted on the school sports blog under the skiing label.

Ice Skating

Notices and timetables were sent out last week for yr 0-3 kids. Copies of these have also been posted on the schools sports blog in case they go lost in transistion.

Please fill in and return to classroom teachers.

Yr 7 and 8 Queenstown School Sports Exchange

This is happening on Tuesday 21st June at our school. All games are scheduled for 1.00pm start although the yr 7 netball will play before the yr 8’s . The sports are Basketball, Rugby, Soccer and Netball. Feel free to come and support the Arrowtown kids. All players are asked to bring a plate for a shared afternoon tea with the Queenstown kids after the games. Postponement day is Thursday 23rd June.

Cross Country

The Kids have been training hard for the yr 5 -8 cross country. They have been measuring their fitness through the “beep” tests we have been doing and a lot of them are showing a big improvement already. We are having an “ultimate beep test” challenge at the end of the month to see who takes the beep test champions title. The date for the cross country is Tuesday 12th July at Wilcox green. More information will be posted on the sports blog.

Basketball

We have a number of our kids entered in the Friday night mini ball and basketball league at the events centre. It is a well run and enjoyable competiton for the kids.

Arrowtown School Netball

Check out the Arrowtown School netball blog on http://arrowschoolnetball.blogspot.com/ for information results and photos. There is a netball prize giving on Sunday July 10th in the school hall at 4.00pm so put that date on your calendars. We will have a pot luck tea after the prize giving.

Rippa Rugby

The Arrowtown yr 5 and 6 Lions team is taking on the best Otago has to offer at Carisbrook on the 24th June. The winning team from this tournament gets an all expenses paid trip to Auckland to play before a world cup game so there is plenty of incentive to play well. We wish them all the best. The Arrowtown Yr 3 and 4 Red team play their finals on the the 6th August, the last game at Carisbrook.

Swimming

School Swimming starts next term at Aqualand and runs through to the last week of term 4. This year we are having one class at a time this year. The timetable is posted on the sports blog.
